   MARY, THE MOTHER OF GOD

            As you celebrate this feast on New Years, consider that: if Mary is the Mother of God, than Joseph is the foster father of God and we are all the brothers and sisters of God by our adoption through baptism. In a model family the parents treat all the children the same, natural and adopted, and all children accept one another as belonging, without distinction.

            Imagine looking at all who are baptized as your own brothers and sisters, especially the younger or handicapped members or those less fortunate for whatever reason. How patient, understanding, forgiving would you be?

            There are two reasons why this should be and no good reasons why this could not be. First, this is what it means to be a Christian, a child of God, a follower of Jesus and a Knight of Columbus. Second, this is what it takes to bring peace to others and find it in ourselves; for, it is in giving that we receive, both peace and eternal life.

Brothers, I have the 2008 Traveling Cards ready to disburse to Members once they pay their 2008 Dues.   You may send me the Dues Money or I am at the Hall on Tuesdays, mostly all day to receive Dues Money.  Dues for a Regular Member are $25.00, and for an Honorary Member they are $6.00.   Remember when sending in your dues money please include an extra $5.00 for the “Take 5” Program.  This helps Charities throughout the state.  Honorary Life Members are Dues exempt but can still contribute to the “Take 5” program.  Dues may be sent to me at, 2322 Delaware Blvd, Saginaw, Mi. 48602-5228.
If for any reason you cannot afford the dues money or are considered disabled, please let the Grand Knight or myself  know,  arrangements can and will be made.  We want to retain you as a Member.  My phone number is (989) 790-0225 or cell (989) 714-4090 and E-Mail address FINSEC@AOL.COM.  A reminder to all Snow-Birds, if you want to receive the Council newsletter let me know of your winter address.  We lost last year’s addresses and we have to make up a new list.  Let me know when you are leaving and when you will return.  Your co-operation will be appreciated.

Navigators Notes

Sir Knights and Ladies Happy New Year!
I would like to start with a thank you to the 5 Sir Knights that went to the VA hospital.  It was great to see our brother doing the work of charity.  The bingo lasted for 1 hour and we return home by 9:00 pm.  I hoping we can set up more of these bingos.  We have been asked to put on one a month.  If we could get brothers to help out we only need five brothers per month to do this event.  It only takes 3 hours of your time.  It felt so good on the way home after we did this event.  The veterans all 28 of them love the time we spent with them.  They did not want us to leave.  Thank you to Ken and Sue for the great job they did put on the Children’s Christmas Party.  With the bad weather we still had kids showing up and they all had a lot of fun.  Exempt will be April 11 2008 in Grand Rapid Mi.  Do you have a Member you would like to get in the Fourth Degree all you have to do is ask him to join.  We need new member to keep the fourth degree going for years to come.  Jan meeting we have to elect our delegates to vote on new master.  Our next district meeting in Lansing we have to have delegates attend to vote.  We have 3 delegates the navigator and 2 elected delegates .  If you would like to run for a delegate let me know.  Next month I report on the New Year Eve Party and the corporate communion. 2008 Fourth Degree due are due you can paid your dues to the comptroller Greg McCarty.  This last six months I have seen so much good in our assembly.  I hope this New Year brings more to our assembly meetings if you have not attended one lately make plans we need you there.
